Website: The Dessert Kitchen
Background:
Oftentimes, when we think of desserts we envision an image of something unhealthy or something that’ll leave us full of regrets. However, The Dessert Kitchen revolves around one motto and that’s: to satisfy your sweet tooth without the guilt. How? The Dessert Kitchen uses the finest all natural ingredients to create simple desserts called “light desserts”.
As their website states, “[light desserts are]…We control the contents of both fat and sugar to an absolute minimal, with a combination of a wide variety of ingredients. And the result? An unforgettable taste that is truly remarkable.”
Quick Review:
Upon entering this cafe, it almost feels as though you entered a whole new place. By that I mean, it feels like I'm not in your typical "asian dessert restaurant". The place is decorated in a very hip and modern fashion. There are moss covered walls (not in a gross way), a humourous and clever neon sign and high chairs. Although on the tinier side (which I know is typically for downtown stores), this place does not disappoint. The desserts are all eye-catching and mouth-watering. We got three different desserts, all which tasted light and unique in their own way. We had the coconut shaved ice topped with riceballs and fresh mango (which was not too strong tasting), the vanilla serradura (which was light, buttery and tart-like) and "the winter of love" (a sundae topped with london fog flavoured icecream, cornflakes, vanilla softserve, riceballs and mango).

VERDICT: This place is my newest dessert obsession. Each time I go here, I never really have a "go-to". That's because this is the type of place where you *literally* WANT. TO. TRY. EVERYTHING. Give this place a try if you get the chance! This is the cafe's first location in Toronto!
